Christine Hoover will guides us through a look into Jeremiah 2 to understand ways we choose to drink from "broken cisterns" instead of the pure source, Jesus himself. CASA Amplifying Advocacy Conference, September 15th - 16th

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Walker County Amplifying Advocacy training is a yearly event hosted by CASA of Walker, Trinity, and Montgomery Counties to train and equip volunteers and local leaders in advocacy and trauma-informed care. The goal is for those who serve hurting and abused families will come to be refreshed, renewed, and reignited in their calling. I will be leading a session on trauma-informed self-care titled: How to care well for yourself when you care well for others.

Cultivate Marriage enrichment weekend

This Cultivate Weekend is a Marriage Enrichment weekend designed to nurture, grow and enrich the marriage relationship. It is a Christ-centered marriage curriculum, rich with clinical insights as well as practical relationship strategies. Christine and her husband Chris teach this weekend event together. quitting your quiet time: Spiritual Practices for truly Integrating Heart, Mind, Body and Soul

In this workshop, Christine will talk through the importance of engaging our whole hearts and mind and BODY in our spiritual practices, using the basics of neuroscience and how wounding affects the way we attach to God and others. Curt Thompson says, “In your life, God’s ‘way’ is about loving him and loving your neighbor with all the parts of you. And this is hard work, especially for those parts of your ‘heart, soul, and mind’ that have not had much practice doing that—the wounded parts, the weak parts, or the functions, such as memory or emotion, that you may not pay much attention to.”

 

trauma and children: How connection heals

Christine will describe the effects of trauma as well as practical tools to connect to children in your life. This workshop is for ANYONE who parents or works with children. Using a trauma-informed lens, this workshop details what trauma is, how it affects children and how to best relate and love on kids who have been through traumatic events.

 

Jonah and despair: How to make sense of suicide ideation through a biblical lens

This teaching from the book of Jonah follows the despair of Jonah, the challenges of mental health issues, and how the body of Christ can respond to those caught in the grip of despair.

 

anxiety, over-thinking, and worry: learning basic therapeutic tools that work

Anxiety Disorders are at an all-time high. This workshop is an absolute necessity for any team or organization that wants to learn how to help their people understand anxiety and how to manage the often paralyzing symptoms. This workshop will teach the basic neurobiological underpinnings of anxiety and therapeutic tools that work.

 

The neurobiology of attachment: finding our way to God and others

The key to healing is connecting. We were all born into the world, literally searching the landscape, looking for who is there FOR us. This workshop will cover how woundings affect our attachment patterns, detailing the 4 different attachment styles. These attachment patterns affect how we relate to God and others. Attendees will learn how to engage their stories in a way that brings healing and forgiveness and opens the door to finding deeper connections with God and others.
